When we work together, we achieve great things!” -Jana Vogle

Joann Harwell

Board Member

Joann Harwell moved to Vega in 1983 and only recently realized she might be considered an “oldtimer”.  Regardless of the label, time spent in Oldham County has provided Joann with a strong sense of community and an appreciation for what “small town living” provides.  She’s been a farmer, a bookkeeper, and a baker…but first and foremost she’s a mom to three sons.  Her family has grown to include two beloved daughters-in-law,  one amazing grandson, four granddogs and two grandcats.

Joann purchased the old “Wilson’s Corner” building in 2022 with a dream to make the building a gathering place for the community.  Mama Jo’s Pies & Sweets has become one piece in that vision…..a place to honor the people of the past while nurturing and sharing the sense of family that defines this area.

It’s no wonder that Joann has found it important to serve on the Board of Directors for the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce.  All of the communities involved in the continuation of the values of those before us are working together to continue the legacy we inherited.

Whether they choose to stay or venture elsewhere, she wants to leave a lasting legacy of hope, opportunity, and resilience. This isn’t just about business, it’s about nurturing the future of our community, about inspiring our kids to dream big and see the power of giving back.
